This site serves as a historical record of Dr. Alberts’ service to the scientific community, including his 12 years as President of the National Academy of Sciences and his tenure as Editor-in-Chief of Science magazine. Dr. Alberts retired from UCSF in 2009 and is now an Emeritus Professor, having returned to the university in 2005 to hold the Chancellor’s Leadership Chair for Science and Education.
